Kirin: 对，或者是在办公室里面，我们也会听到同样的对话.
Raphael: 好，让我们先听一次今天正常语速的对话.
Yann: 喂?
Cindy: 请问，是林先生吗?
Yann: 我就是.
Cindy: 我是杨小姐.
Yann: 杨小姐您好. 有什么需要我帮忙的?
Cindy: 我有一些事情想要找你讨论. 我们什么时候可以见面?
Yann: 我这个礼拜有很多会要开, 恐怕没有办法. 不然，你先去找我的秘书，她会帮你安排时间跟我见面.
Cindy: 谢谢，我会的.

Raphael: 让我们来解释今天的对话. 前面的几句对话都很简单. 所以我们很快的看一遍.
Kirin: 喂?
Adam: “Hello?”
Kirin: 请问，是林先生吗?
Adam: “May I ask, is this Mr Lin?”
Kirin: 我就是.
Adam: “Yes, I am.”
Kirin: 我是杨小姐.
Adam: “I’m Miss Yang.”
Kirin: 杨小姐您好.
Raphael: 你们记得 您 是什么意思吗?
Adam: We taught that sometime back as a respectable way of saying “you”.
Kirin: 杨小姐您好.
Adam: “Hello, Miss Yang.”
Kirin: 有什么需要我帮忙的?
Adam: The literal meaning here is: “Have what need I help?”, as in “Is there anything I can help you with?”
Kirin: 有什么需要我帮忙的?
Raphael: 然后这个女生回答
Kirin: 我有一些事情想要找你讨论.
Raphael: 你们记得 事情 是什么意思吗?
Adam: That means “matter.” So the first part of the sentence becomes “I have a few matters that I’d like to find you.”
Raphael: 然后在这个句子的后面,我们看到今天的第一个生字
Kirin: 讨论.
Adam: And that means “to discuss.”
Kirin: 我有一些事情想要找你讨论.
Adam: “I have a few matters that I’d like to discuss with you.”
Raphael: 然后她继续说
Kirin: 我们什么时候可以见面?
Raphael: 你们知道 见面 是什么意思吗?
Adam: We know that 见 means “to meet” while 面 in this context, means “side” or “face”; so this can be thought of as “meeting face to face.”
Kirin: 我们什么时候可以见面?
Adam: “When can we meet?”
Raphael: 然后这个男生说
Kirin: 我这个礼拜有很多会要开.
Raphael: 这个句子有两个生字. 第一个是

Adam: which means “to have a meeting.” So by saying

Adam: He’s saying “This week I have a lot of meetings to attend.”

Raphael: 然后他继续说
Kirin: 恐怕没有办法.

Adam: Afraid.

Adam: I’m afraid there’s nothing that can be done.

Raphael: 秘书 是一种工作的名字. 他们的办公室常常都在老板的隔壁.
Adam: The literal meaning is “secret book”, and together that means “secretary”.
Kirin: 不然，你先去找我的秘书.
Adam: “Alternatively, you can find my secretary.”
Raphael: 然后他继续说
Kirin: 她会帮你安排时间跟我见面.
Raphael: 今天的最后一个生字是
Kirin: 安排.
Adam: And that means “to arrange” or “set up.” So here that combines with the 时间 to give us
Kirin: 安排时间
Adam: meaning “to arrange a time.”
Kirin: 她会帮你安排时间跟我见面.
Adam: “She’ll help you arrange a time to meet with me.”
Raphael: 然后这个女生回答
Kirin: 谢谢，我会的.
Adam: “Thanks, I’ll do that.”
